#7 – Five Stages of Group Development for Agile Teams

My article on this concept was recently posted in the Scrum Alliance community. Find the full article here: http://bit.ly/5StagesandScrum

Over the past decade or so, I’ve observed how certain Agile and leadership practices, when introduced at key times along a group’s development, can have an amazing impact on building trust, fostering courage, commitment and transparency.

Some important considerations today as organizations move to the next level of transformation with Agile practices using Scrum and other methods are: how they get the most out of their teams, how they build psychologically safe environments that help to unleash creativity and innovation?

Trust is one of the main foundations for creating a psychologically safe space for teams. As teams move through stages of development there are things team facilitators and team members can do to start to build trust and develop psychological safety where teams can thrive.

My article goes through each stage and notes the practices I’ve found to be successful in moving teams toward high performance at each stage.

This topic is part of my “Emergent Leader” series, a collection of ideas, concepts and skill building for the next level of leadership required to lead today’s Agile teams. The inaugural class will be held February 8 & 9, 2017.  Go to my Public Workshops page for more details and to register
